Our Story

In 2018, Washington White & Susan Butler decided to expand on the pick-your-own apple orchard they had established, known as Waters Orchard, and open a cidery! Doc Waters Cidery was born of the combined dreams of Susan & Wash, and quickly cemented itself as a hidden gem in Montgomery County, MD, not to mention the first cidery in Montgomery County!

Susan & Wash used their love & knowledge of agriculture and their passion for providing fresh, local produce to create a beautiful estate cidery. Doc Waters became known for its cider being made from apples grown onsite and for the fresh, tart flavor it brings to the cider world!

In 2021, Wash & Susan made the decision to sell Waters Orchard & Doc Waters Cidery to their niece and nephews, Hallie, Tyler, and Ben Butler. Susan passed away in early 2022, and now the Butlers are committed to continuing and expanding the dream that she and Wash had for the Cidery & Orchard.

Doc Waters has become a destination for fun with friends and has plenty of experiences to support this including fire pit reservations, Friday trivia, food trucks, and more!

Whether you’re here to drink or pick, we are so excited to have you at Doc Waters Cidery!
